 This book is about the Ingalls family journey and their life on Indian territory. Little House on the Prairie is written by Laura Ingalls Wilder and illustrated by Garth Williams. This book is a historical fiction. The main characters in the book are Pa, Ma, Laura, Mary, and baby Carrie. In my opinion this book was full of surprises and had more adventure than the earlier books in this series. Little House on the Prairie shows more adventure than we have seen in this series. I think something that makes this book interesting is all the adventure that happen on their journey to Indian territory.

 In the beginning of the book, we see the Ingalls family set off for their journey to Indian country. They decide to move to Kansas in hopes of finding better land to grow their crops. One of the hard challenges is that when they leave Wisconsin and begin to cross the Mississippi river, it begins to flood while they were crossing it. Once the family arrives at the prairie they must begin to adjust to life on the prairie. The beginning of the book sets the readers up for an adventure.

During the middle of the book. Their life was full of work while they were making their house. While they were building their house a log fell and almost hit Ma. But life on the prairie was also interesting. They also had a lot of chores to do every day. One of the chores was that Pa and the girls would go get logs. Something they also had to worry about was the Indians. One time when Pa was gone, the Indians came into their house and took their cornbread and tobacco. For the Ingalls family life on the prairie was difficult.

Towards the end of the book, the Ingalls family learned that they were going to have to leave their new house because of the tension between the Indians and the new settlers. This was nerve-wracking for them because they did not want to leave. But after long discussions they decided that they would leave and go and find a new place to start their home.  A lesson that I learned was to not take land that does not belong to you.

I thought this book was interesting because there were lots of different things that happened in the book. I would recommend this book to kids who like historical fiction. My favorite part was when they made a necklaces for their baby sister out of Indian beads. An important lesson I learned was too was to not take land that does not belong to you. I think this was a good book because I liked learning about how the settlers and the Indians intreated with each other. Little House on The Prairie was a great book!
